Celebrating Marriage

Gracie and Zack skiing 2008Life begins with a relationship. Since the beginning, the loving, covenant relationship between a man and a woman in marriage was to bring forth children and replenish the earth. (Genesis 1:28) The bond between mother and child is a joy to behold. The affection between siblings can last for a life time. Relationships with others are what make our lives meaningful. Without healthy relationships we can soon become withdrawn, sad, lonely and depressed.

God made us with a need for relationship. Every evening in the cool of the day, God would meet with Adam and Eve. He had made them in His own image that they might have a relationship with Him. Sin put a breach in this relationship that affected all mankind. Through Christ man can be reconciled back to God. Our relationship with God has to be first and foremost because it is only through His love that we are able to love others. This is the key to having genuine, lasting relationships.

JUSTIN & SUMMER 2Besides our walk with God, the closest relationship offered to mankind is through the bond of marriage between a husband and his wife. Next to it is the bond of family, that of parents with children. God likens marriage between a husband and a wife to the relationship with Christ and His church. We are the bride, He is the groom. Children born into a godly home receive the blessing of that relationship.

Celebrating Life Relationships denotes the inclusion of all human relationships that flow out of marriage. Relationships go beyond the home and church into the workplace, schools, neighborhoods, between parent and teachers, doctor with patients, lawyer and clients, businessman with employees/clients, etc. The same skills we teach couples can help us in all of these relationships. We want to promote the Celebration of Marriage and by so doing we will strengthen the Family, and in turn the Community in the love of Jesus. He is our source and our example.
